The Story of Us is a personalised wooden plaque created from the memories, milestones and moments that make your relationship unique.
Originally made as an anniversary gift from Thomas to Jenny, it was inspired by the challenge of creating something genuinely personal for someone who already helps make personalised gifts every day. The finished plaque told their story in their own words and soon led to requests from friends and family for something similar.
Each plaque is designed, engraved and hand-finished in our small workshop in Bo’ness, Scotland.
Created from your memories
After placing your order, we will send you a questionnaire where you can share the details you would like included, such as:
- How you first met
- Important dates and milestones
- Engagement and wedding memories
- Children, family and pets
- Holidays and favourite places
- Funny moments and shared sayings
- Challenges you have overcome together
- The small details that make your relationship special
You do not need to write the finished story yourself. Notes, dates and bullet points are enough for us to begin. The more detail you provide, the more personal the finished story can be.
AI-assisted and personally edited
We use AI to help organise your notes into a flowing first draft. Every story is then personally read, edited and refined by us so that it feels natural, personal and true to the information you supplied.
You will receive the completed wording to review before anything is engraved. Reasonable amendments can be requested, and we will only begin making the plaque once you are happy with the story. The plaque can hold up to approximately 3,000 characters, which is usually enough for a detailed and meaningful account of your journey together.
Handmade in Scotland
Once the wording has been approved, your plaque is made from pine wood, carefully sanded and stained to create a warm, rustic finish. The story is then laser engraved directly into the wood before the finished piece is checked and prepared for dispatch.
The plaque measures approximately 50 cm × 35 cm and can be displayed on a wall or placed on a suitable shelf or surface. Because pine is a natural material, the colour, grain and engraving depth may vary slightly. These differences are part of the character of a handmade wooden product.

- We prepare and edit your story.
- Review the wording and request any reasonable changes.
- Approve the final version.
- We engrave, finish and dispatch your plaque.

As every story requires individual writing, editing, approval and engraving, please allow at least one week from ordering before dispatch. Delays in returning the questionnaire or approving the wording may extend this time.
Privacy and confidentiality
We understand that the memories you share may be deeply personal. Your story will not be published on our website or social media without your clear permission. Working drafts and files are used only to create your order and are deleted once the completed plaque has been delivered.
